Super Jack
Well, it's Jack's Birthday today and Easter. Yesterday, Jack and I went to the costume shop to pick out a costume for one of his birthday presents. I think the video shows how much he likes it.

Where were you?
A couple of days ago Jack (almost 4) and I were listening to a CD with a song about getting "lost in a book" and Jack told me, very seriously, "Mom, I don't like to be lost!" I had to kiss his sweet face and then forgot about it as the day went on. But it all came back too clearly today when I couldn't find him at the Sacramento Zoo. One second he was there, the next I could NOT find him. I could not believe he could have gotten far, so we retraced our steps to the Orangatanges (his favorite, he had just told me,) but he was not there. We were all yelling for him and I just could not find his little body. I was starting to get that panicked sick feeling- what had I ever told him to do if he was lost??? I told Scott to pray and he told me "I already did Mom!" the further, we got the more I couldn't believe he could have gone so far all alone. It had been about 10 minutes now and I just hoped someone had seen a little boy all alone and taken him to lost and found- as I was trying to decide if I should stay in the area I had last seen him in or leave to search further, I had the idea come into my head to look at our little map, and find the number for the Zoo main office. So I called up to the front gate and the woman said no one had turned in a child but just then (no such thing as coincidence) she saw him out the window wandering up by himself. So she asked me his name and went and got him. So he had walked all the way back to the entrance trying to find us. When we went inside to get him he was sitting so straight in a chair with a solemn little face but when he saw me he put his hands to his eyes and burst into tears. "Where were you guys?" I just held him and told him I will always find him- and how grateful I was to feel his little arms around me! Now he knows when he is lost to find a "worker" or a mom with children. He showed me later all the spots along the way he had thought would be good spots to find me. Oh buddy- I don't plan on losing you again!

Snow Camping
I took Scott, Natalie and Jack up to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. There was 2 feet of snow on the ground and the overnight low was 32 degrees. The kids had a great time. We stayed warm, had a snow ball fight and went on a 1.5 mile hike though the Redwood grove. The trees were ginormous!

Better late than never!
Ben rolled over today. I am so glad Jonathan video taped it because by the next day he was much faster. Just look at the EFFORT! Good boy Ben!
